Yes roleplay is great fun, and luckily SecondLife has places that are strictly roleplay only. Roleplay allows you to play a character that isn't yourself, so it holds more of a fantasy element. There are skills involved, a good imagination for one, and a good sense of writing and grammar another, but nothing that can't be picked up with practice.

Island of Pain
The Island of Pain is truly amazing, and is one of the greatest BDSM places in SecondLife. It has everything the discerning roleplayer can possibly wish for. The whole island is a roleplay sim, although they aren't strict and it has a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The island is huge and will take days to fully explore. You arrive at a public square in the village, that has gallows full of campers swinging on ropes and a wide array of characters dancing and chatting. From there you can take a balloon ride to discover what else is on the island.
This is where it gets interesting. There are the Fallen Towers, a ruins of an ancient tower that has sunken into the sea, and is now secluded off shore. Then there's the Cave, a serene place where discussions and gatherings are held. There is Vain Village, a quaint and rural village that is ideal for period roleplay. There is the Dragon. A fearsome creature that abodes in its lair and looks down upon visitors enabling a range of roleplay (yes there is a sex-bed there too).
Then there's the greenhouse where botanical experiments are conducted, and the lab where all manner of experiments are conducted including hypnosis! There's an entire palace with lots of rooms filled with gadgets to play in and on, and also a church!!
And as if that wasn't enough there's also Suffer Street, an urban roleplay environment where gangs roam and all manner of unspeakable things can happen. There's also an art gallery for the more aesthetic minded and a high security facility (prison) to deal with deviants. All this plus some great shopping facilities in the town.
Quite amazing i'm sure you'll agree, and the whole sim has been built with love and attention to detail. They hold regular events including a best BDSM scene competition and are a community based island dedicated to people that enjoy the BDSM lifestyle in both SL and RL. Also they have introduced their own Karma points system to enhance roleplay called the Soul Giver.This is a unique system where other members can award people points according to skills and behavior.
Our verdict: Basically the Island of Pain has far too much to mention here so we recommend that you go down there and see for yourselves.. Its a must visit and in our opinion offers the best roleplay in SL. Ten out of ten!!
Deadend City - Kidnap Roleplay
The train pulls into the station of a deadend city. People roam the corridors of the underground station with a vacant look in their eyes ... the sights they've seen in the city have left them numb .. speechless .. now theres nothing left to do but wander aimlessly underground muttering to themselves and praying that the horrors above don't descend into the darkness and take what little there is left of their pitiful souls. This is Deadend City .. and ANYTHING can happen ...
Deadend City is like the movie set of every erotic thriller and danger movie you ever saw. Its set in a modern day city, and you can play any character you like. There is a police force which you can join, or street gangs depending on which side of the law you want to be. Only in Deadend .. there is no law. Its a kidnap capture roleplay sim and the storylines are endless. Theres a lot of scope for BDSM play, and there are even regular slave auctions for abductees willing or unwilling to be sold into slavery as sex objects.
Theres many areas to play in Deadend, and many hidden locations to take victims. Theres a sleazy nightclub/bar to hang out and appartments available to rent. The attention to detail in Deadend City is what makes it so special, and the people there are helpful and friendly. Unless of course you're in a roleplay, then they can be dangerous and cruel.
Our verdict: In all Deadend City is a great place to live out your fantasies in SecondLife and has a fantastic scope for a wide variety of roleply scenarios. Its always busy and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. But don't take our word for it ... Get down there and see it for yourselves!!!!!
Human Traffic - The Mansion
The story -The most beautiful women in the world are disappearing at an alarming rate. Actresses have been kidnapped from movie sets, models snatched from photo shoots, and prom queens pulled from their limo's. Speculation and rumour abound as to the fate of these young women but the authorities have no solid leads. Recently, videos that seems to have been taken with a a cell phone appeared on the web showing one of these women being raped, humiliated, and abused. One of the girls did escape but she hasn't spoken since she collapsed on the door steps of a Singapore hospital.
The corrupt officials of that country have blocked any investigation fearing damage to the country's lucrative sex slave trade. The conspiracy is believed to go as high as the Police Chief or even the Prime Ministers brother. The most common theory on the internet is that a shadowy underworld cartel is holding these women prisoner and renting their bodies to anyone with cash. Men from around the globe have been traveling to Singapore to rape one of these beautiful girls with no fear of ever getting arrested. Many men claim to have been with one of these girls but it's impossible to know who is being truthful. Most say the women are held against their will in a mansion.
Some tell of anguished female screams coming from the basement and how when the women emerge their will has been so broken they obey any command without thought. Others say if you give the big guy at the door fifty bucks you can go into the back room where the women are kept in solitary prison cells and rape one of them. But it's impossible to know anything for sure until you've been there.
Our verdict is that Human Traffic - The Mansion is a great idea and a very well thought out roleplay. Its one of the better roleplay areas in SecondLife because of the depth of the storyline, and is guaranteed to be a fun BDSM roleplay. Strictly for adults only!!!
